Job summary

A civil engineering firm in North Carolina is seeking a skilled Land Surveyor with at least 5 years of professional experience to support various projects. Responsibilities include collecting field survey data, documenting work phases, and analyzing public records. The ideal candidate must have a valid driver’s license, physical ability for outdoor work, and the capacity to travel within North Carolina and surrounding states. Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED minimum and 5+ years of professional land surveying experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must have the physical ability to work outdoors in all weather for extended periods of time and be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to travel and work on projects throughout North Carolina and the surrounding states.

Responsibilities

• Collect field survey data via collection systems.
• Digitally document all phases of work through field notes and reports.
• Analyze and interpret public records and research related to land development.
• Ensure accurate control networks and topographical locations.
• Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
• Communicate with the public and collaborate with McGill staff.
• May supervise field personnel.

This position will support projects throughout North Carolina, typically within 1.5 hours of their respective McGill office, but overnight travel is required.

• Collect field survey data via collection systems (examples: robotic total station, digital and auto levels, GPS instruments)
• Digitally document all phases of work through field notes, daily reports, and other project documentation
• Analyze and interpret public records and research (examples: deeds, plans, utility records, and other pertinent documents related to land development)
• Ensure accurate control networks and topographical locations
• Ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment and vehicles
• Communicate with the public as needed
• Communicate/collaborate with McGill staff as needed
• May supervise field personnel
