Job summary

LHH in Newport News, VA seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead a small field crew on diverse land surveying and infrastructure projects. You will oversee field operations, ensure accuracy, and coordinate with project managers and office staff.

The role offers travel within the local area and opportunities for career advancement. Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of surveying experience, prior Crew Chief or Party Chief exposure, strong leadership skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of surveying experience preferred.
• Previous Survey Crew Chief / Party Chief experience strongly preferred.
• Strong field leadership and crew-management skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work outdoors and on challenging terrain.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a survey crew of approximately 3–5 team members.
• Perform and oversee land surveying activities in the field.
• Coordinate daily field operations and ensure work is completed accurately and safely.
• Work on a variety of surveying and infrastructure projects.
• Communicate effectively with project managers and office personnel.
• Maintain quality and productivity standards for the crew.

• Ability to work a typical 5-day schedule with occasional Saturdays
