Job summary

Parametrix in Bend, Oregon is seeking a Survey Party Chief to lead field survey activities with emphasis on topographic surveys and to turn field data into accurate project deliverables. You will work closely with a licensed Professional Land Surveyor on a variety of Central Oregon projects.

The role requires progressive land surveying experience, strong data collection skills, and proficiency with modern survey equipment.

Qualifications

  • Progressive land surveying experience including leading fieldwork.
  • Strong topographic survey experience and ability to plan and execute field assignments efficiently.
  • Proficiency operating modern survey equipment and collecting accurate field data.
  • Ability to interpret plans, maps, and survey instructions and project requirements.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project sites; valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred qualifications: LSIT, FAA Part 107 certification, CAD and data-processing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and lead field survey activities, with emphasis on topographic surveys.
  • Operate and maintain survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, digital levels, data collectors, and related technology.
  • Collect, review, and document accurate field data in accordance with project requirements and established survey standards.
  • Perform field calculations and confirm the completeness and quality of survey data before leaving the project site.
  • Coordinate with the project PLS, project managers, engineers, clients, and other team members to clarify project requirements and support successful delivery.
  • Assist with downloading, organizing, and processing field data and preparing information for CAD production.
  • Promote safe field practices and maintain organized field notes, equipment, vehicles, and project documentation.

About The Opportunity

We are looking for a Survey Party Chief to join our Bend, Oregon team. In this role, you will lead field survey activities with an emphasis on topographic surveys and help turn field data into accurate, high‑quality project deliverables. You will work closely with a licensed Professional Land Surveyor. This position will support a variety of projects throughout Central Oregon and other locations as project needs require.


Your Role On The Team


  • Plan, coordinate, and lead field survey activities, with a strong emphasis on topographic surveys.

  • Operate and maintain survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, digital levels, data collectors, and related technology.

  • Collect, review, and document accurate field data in accordance with project requirements and established survey standards.

  • Perform field calculations and confirm the completeness and quality of survey data before leaving the project site.

  • Coordinate with the project PLS, project managers, engineers, clients, and other team members to clarify project requirements and support successful delivery.

  • Assist with downloading, organizing, and processing field data and preparing information for CAD production.

  • Promote safe field practices and maintain organized field notes, equipment, vehicles, and project documentation.


What You Bring To The Team


  • Progressive land surveying experience, including experience independently leading survey fieldwork.

  • Strong topographic survey experience and the ability to plan and execute field assignments efficiently.

  • Proficiency operating modern survey equipment and collecting accurate field data.

  • Ability to interpret plans, maps, record information, survey instructions, and project requirements.

  • Strong attention to detail, sound field judgment, and a commitment to quality and safety.

  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying terrain and weather conditions and travel to project sites as needed. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.

  • Preferred qualifications:

    • LSIT certification

    • FAA Part 107 certification and drone-survey experience

    • CAD and survey data‑processing experience

Hourly Range

$38—$48 USD


Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee‑owners, we are eligible for performance‑based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually. We value transparency and look forward to discussing our compensation structure.
