Brevard County Public Works Department, Surveying & Mapping, seeks a part-time GIS technician to assist the survey team with digital maps, sketches and exhibits, and to input GIS data for asset maps.
Work up to 24 hours per week, Monday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with salary at $19.52 hourly. Requires 30 semester hours toward a technical degree or 2 years CAD/GIS experience; valid Florida driver’s license required.

THIS POSITION IS APPOINTIVE SERVICE/TEMPORARY
$19.52 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Part-time/up to 24 hours per week not to exceed six (6) months. Work schedule is Monday through Wednesday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs experienced technical work as part of the Survey team office staff preparing and updating digital survey maps, sketches, and exhibits researching deed and plats; and inputting Geographic Information System (GIS) data in the production of GIS asset maps.
Thirty (30) semester hours [forty-five (45) quarter hours] of college-level coursework towards a technical degree in Surveying, Engineering, Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Drafting, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics, or a closely related field; OR two (2) years of experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drafting or Geographic Information System (GIS) input and mapping. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
