Job summary

About This Opportunity

Our Western team offers a wide variety of survey and mapping services to private and public sector clients, as well as internal projects across a multi‑disciplined company. We support these services with a national team of geospatial professionals, including professional surveyors, mappers, crew chiefs, technicians, and project managers, ensuring consistency and flexible resources for employees and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Develop scopes, cost estimates, and proposals.
  • Support survey technicians through all aspects of the project.
  • Contribute to the overall leadership of the Western survey group.
  • Make hiring recommendations and lead staff career development.
  • Provide initial review of contracts for final approval by the group manager or vice‑president.
  • Provide oversight of projects within your team, including QA/QC, resource allocation, and technical advice.
  • Build and maintain respectful working relationships with coworkers and leaders across the company.
  • Support and participate in the supervision, development, and mentorship of staff.
  • Lead scheduled team meetings to discuss projects, pursuits, workload, and resource utilization.
  • Provide input to division leadership for the annual business plan and budget for the group.
  • Network and develop relationships with clients and other industry professionals.
  • Work directly with internal and external clients.
  • Adhere to OSHA and required safety practices.
Required Qualifications
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in Colorado.
  • Ability to recognize and embrace new geospatial technologies.
  • 3–5 years of project management experience.
  • 5–10 years of diverse field/office experience in surveying, including topographic surveys, construction staking, boundary surveys, right‑of‑way plats, and control surveys.
  • Demonstrated and recognized expertise in surveying.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial project management.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Central, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to walk over uneven terrain and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
Desired Skills And Experiences
  • Two‑year degree in land surveying technology, civil engineering technology, or a bachelor’s degree in land surveying or a related field.
  • Proven ability to monitor project budgets to a successful outcome, oversee project teams, and meet client expectations in schedule, scope, etc.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in team environments.
  • Aptitude for coaching and mentoring others.
  • Familiarity with CDOT practices and requirements.
  • Ability to receive direction from multiple individuals, channeling strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.

The salary range for this posting is $100,000 - $150,000. Our compensation approach is fair and equitable and considers market data, education, training, skills, experience, and geographic location. The selected candidate will be evaluated accordingly.
