Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Survey Instrument Operator to support field crews and collect precise data using company standards.

You will handle data collection, operate a range of survey instruments, and assist the Party Chief during field operations. The role requires interpreting maps and specifications, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating with office staff and clients.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1+ years using data collectors and total stations (robotic & non-robotic) and GPS.
• 1+ years of land surveying experience.
• Experience with GDOT.
• Valid driver’s license and be insurable.
• Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.
• Must be willing and able to travel as required for the role.

Responsibilities

• C ollect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
• Assist Party Chief in running the field operations.
• Operate and maintain surveying instruments to measure elevations, angles and distances.
• Coordinate with office staff and clients as required.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.
• Monitor accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections.
• Perform mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.
• Interpret maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
• Calibrate instruments to assure measurement accuracy.
• Oversee surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.
• Perform related work as required.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Candidates must be able to collect data using company standards for descriptions and line coding.
• Assist Party Chief in running the field operations
• Operates and maintains various surveying instruments, such as transits, level, theodolite, and electronic distance measuring equipment to measure and verify elevations, angles and distances.
• Coordinates with office staff and clients as required.
• Adheres to local, state, and federal survey regulations as well as Accura Engineering procedures.
• Monitors accurate completion of daily timesheets, reports, and vehicle inspections
• Performs mathematical calculations to establish and locate reference points.
• Interprets maps, plats, blueprints, and specifications.
• Cleans, checks and adjusts survey instruments to assure accuracy of measurements.
• Oversees surveying activities in the absence of Survey Party Chief.
• Perform related work as required.

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of utilizing data collectors, robotic and non-robotic total stations and GPS equipment.
• 1+ years of experience in land surveying
• Experience with GDOT
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
• Willing to train the right candidate without the above noted experience

Physical Requirements

• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
• Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
