Job summary

Wightman is seeking a Survey Field Service Technician in Benton Harbor, MI to collect field data using standard surveying equipment. The role reports to the Survey Project Manager - Energy and involves extensive travel (75%).

Responsibilities include setting up and operating instruments, measuring and recording data, locating markers, creating drawings, and maintaining gear. Candidates should have a HS diploma and relevant experience; associates degree or Certified Survey Technician are

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associates degree or higher preferred.
• Certified Survey Technician certification preferred.
• 2+ years related surveying experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment and instruments to collect field data, reporting data back to surveyors and other.
• Measure, record, and calculate data based on instrument readings.
• Layout, locate and recover markings, stakes, and other such signifiers at work locations.
• Help create drawings and computer images of job locations.
• Maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Assist in conducting surveys to determine location of natural features and man-made structures on the surface, underground or underwater.
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records and other relevant information.
• Perform manual labor such as bending, digging with a hand shovel, cutting brush for lines, carrying equipment, stakes, rebar and other items that may be heavy (5-50 lbs).

Essential Functions:

• Set up, adjust, and operate surveying equipment and instruments to collect field data, reporting data back to surveyors and other

Required Education/Experience:

• Position based in Benton Harbor, MI
• Regional Travel 75% including out of state
