Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) with Georgia reciprocity preferred or ability to obtain.
  • 10+ years of progressive surveying experience including leadership or management responsibilities.
  • Strong background in transportation, utilities, industrial, energy, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Proven track record of leading survey teams, developing staff, and managing multiple projects concurrently.
  • Expertise in boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, utility, construction, and control surveys.
  • Proficiency with GPS, LiDAR, UAVs, and modern geospatial data workflows.
  • Excellent client management, business development, communication, and project management skills.

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of transportation, utility, industrial, energy, and infrastructure projects.
  • Oversee survey managers, field crews, office staff and subcontractors to ensure quality, safety, and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement growth plans, recruit and mentor staff, and build a high-performing team.
  • Act as a primary client-facing leader, nurturing relationships with public agencies, developers, and partners.

Salary: USD130000 - USD200000 per annum

We are partnered with a nationally recognized engineering and consulting firm that is actively growing its survey operations in the Southeast. Due to a substantial and diverse project backlog across transportation, industrial, energy, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects, our client is seeking an experienced Survey Director to lead and expand their Atlanta-area survey practice. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for a professional who enjoys building teams, managing complex projects, driving operational excellence, and helping shape the strategic direction of a growing practice.

The Survey Director will be responsible for:
  • Leading all surveying operations for the Atlanta region, including project delivery, staffing, budgeting, and business performance.
  • Managing a diverse portfolio of transportation, industrial, energy, land development, and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects.
  • Overseeing survey managers, field crews, office personnel, and subcontractors to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety standards are met.
  • Developing and implementing strategic growth plans for the survey practice, including recruiting, mentoring, and retaining top talent.
  • Serving as a key client-facing leader, building relationships with public agencies, private developers, engineering teams, and strategic partners.
  • Ensuring compliance with state regulations, company standards, and industry best practices while maintaining exceptional quality control.
  • Collaborating with engineering, environmental, and geospatial teams to support integrated project delivery and business development initiatives.
The Survey Director should have the following qualifications:
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS/RLS) license required, with Georgia licensure preferred or the ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • 10+ years of progressive surveying experience, including leadership or operational management responsibilities.
  • Strong background managing transportation, utility, industrial, energy, or large-scale infrastructure survey projects.
  • Proven experience leading survey teams, developing staff, and managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong understanding of boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, utility, construction, and control surveys.
  • Experience with modern survey technologies including GPS, robotic total stations, LiDAR, UAVs, and geospatial data workflows.
  • Excellent client management, business development, communication, and project management skills.
  • Leadership role with a nationally respected firm and established project pipeline.
