Job summary

Massport is seeking a Manager, Survey Department in Boston to lead strategic and day-to-day surveying operations across its facilities and infrastructure projects. The role calls for seasoned leadership, compliance with regulatory standards, and advanced knowledge of land titles and boundaries.

You will direct land-based, hydrographic, and aircraft obstruction surveys, maintain survey control networks, and collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to ensure accurate data and timely

Qualifications

• 4-year college degree required; ability to communicate land title, spatial, labor, and budget matters in Standard English.
• 10–15 years of land surveying experience with at least 5 years in a supervisor/management role.
• Massachusetts Registered Professional Land Surveyor license required.
• Knowledge of 250 CMR requirements; proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit and Calson Software desirable.

Responsibilities

• Leads the strategic and day-to-day operations of the Survey Unit, overseeing workforce planning, budgeting, staff development, performance management, labor relations, and the successful delivery of surveying services across Massport’s facilities and infrastructure projects.
• Directs land-based, hydrographic, and aircraft obstruction surveying activities, ensuring accuracy and maintenance of survey control networks, property records, and construction measurements.
• Partners with internal departments, consultants, utilities, government agencies, and external stakeholders to manage complex surveying, property, and infrastructure matters, ensuring regulatory and contractual alignment.
• Provides expert leadership on property boundaries, legal descriptions, ground leases, and land rights, supporting construction projects and regulatory proceedings when required.
