Job description

VIKA Maryland is seeking an experienced Survey Crew Leader to join our Germantown, Maryland team.

VIKA Maryland, LLC is a leading Survey, Civil Engineering, Planning, and Landscape Architecture firm in the DC metro area. We are currently seeking an experienced Survey Instrument Operator to join our Germantown, Maryland team. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects involving all aspects of private- and public-sector developments. Qualifications

The successful candidate will have the following technical and practical abilities to effectively thrive in this position:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Must have valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • 2-5 years’ experience in land surveying preferred
  • Working knowledge of Leica total stations GPS, and 3D laser scanners
  • Ability to work outdoors year-round in all types of weather, standing and walking for extended hours
  • Available to work overtime and reliably on time to work sites
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Motivated to learn and take on new responsibilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities

This position will require carrying out the following assignments and roles:

  • Performing field operations for various surveys such as ALTAsurveys, topographical surveys, and construction surveys
  • Operate instruments and data collections systems (total stations, levels and other measuring devices) to acquire data for various types of surveys
  • Assist or perform processing of field measurements and related data for reports and maps
  • Maintain survey equipment and supply maintenance for crew vehicles
