Job summary

Woolpert, Inc. seeks a Survey Crew Chief to lead a field surveying team in Dayton or Cincinnati, OH. You will guide crews, operate total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, and data collectors, and ensure data quality and safety on diverse projects.

Travel is frequent within Ohio. Candidates should have surveying credentials and readiness to work overtime when needed, with a strong emphasis on leadership and communication.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor's degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or five years of related experience.
• Ability to travel overnight and work overtime as needed.
• Proficient in operating survey instruments and software, including total stations, GNSS GPS receivers, levels, and data collectors.
• Must pass pre-employment background checks and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew to conduct field surveys including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment such as total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, levels, and data collectors.
• Prepare detailed field notes and sketches documenting survey activities.
• Adhere to project requirements, goals, and schedules set by the Survey Team Leader.
• Perform data download, processing, initial quality control, and verification to meet quality standards.
• Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and support timelines and budgets.
• Communicate issues or delays to the Survey Team Leader promptly.
• Promote safety and maintain PPE inventory; perform safety checks on equipment, procedures, and vehicles.
• Provide basic guidance and training to junior crew members and assist in evaluating performance.
