Job summary

Woolpert, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief in Ohio to lead a survey crew in field operations across boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.

You will operate and maintain total stations, GNSS receivers, laser scanners, levels, and data collectors while ensuring data quality and adherence to standards. Responsibilities include preparing field notes, leading a crew, coordinating with the Survey Team Leader, and mentoring junior members in a dynamic, outdoor environment with

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field, or five years of related experience.
• Pass pre-employment driver’s license background check and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Ability to travel overnight and work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead a survey crew to conduct field surveys (boundary, topographic, construction, as-built).
• Operate and maintain survey equipment (total stations, GNSS, laser scanners, levels, data collectors).
• Prepare detailed field notes and sketches documenting survey activities.
• Adhere to project requirements, goals, and schedules set by the Survey Team Leader.
• Perform initial data processing and quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
• Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and help maintain timelines and budget.
• Communicate issues or delays promptly to the Survey Team Leader.
• Promote safety: PPE inventory, safety checks on equipment and vehicles.
• Provide basic guidance and training to junior crew members.
