Job summary

A civil engineering firm based in Portland, Oregon, is seeking a Survey Crew Chief. This full-time role entails overseeing field party/data collection and maintaining effective communication with project teams. Candidates must have 5 years of industry experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to perform survey calculations. Qualifications

  • 5 years of industry experience preferred.
  • Ability to follow instructions and produce neat reports.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Robust understanding of boundary evidence collection.
  • Robust understanding of construction layout.
  • Ability to correctly understand & perform COGO/survey calculations in field.
  • Understanding of Carlson Software is preferred, but not necessary.
  • Ability to collect data to client or company standards.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with crew members, clients, & project team.
  • Compliance with company/site, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Must be able to work outdoors, on busy construction sites, exposed to environmental conditions including heat, cold, precipitation and noise.
  • Ability to Keep Equipment/Truck in working order and communicate to manager when issues arise.
  • Robust knowledge of Traditional Traverse Techniques, Base and Rover GNSS Data Collection Knowledge and applications required
  • Knowledge of Reality Capture Data Collection Techniques and applications preferred
  • Ability to review and edit field data in collaboration with project team.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD, other Engineering/Technical skills preferred
  • Willingness to learn and apply new techniques
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general equipment in working order.

  • Perform duties primarily in field settings.
  • Lift and move survey equipment as needed.
  • Collaborate with crew to ensure data quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities
  • Responsibility For Field Party/ Data Collection

Capabilities and Credentials
