Job summary

Verdantas in the United States is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations using traditional surveying and reality capture technologies, delivering high-quality geospatial data for infrastructure projects nationwide.

You will supervise crews, operate robotic total stations, GNSS, terrestrial laser scanners, UAVs, and implement digital workflows while mentoring junior staff and upholding safety.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive field surveying experience.
  • Experience leading survey crews and managing field operations.
  • Experience with traditional and reality capture hardware.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Lead survey field crews in capturing geospatial and reality capture data.
  • Perform boundary, topo, utility, control, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
  • Operate surveying equipment including robotic total stations and GNSS receivers.
  • Conduct terrestrial laser scanning and UAV collection projects.
  • Establish and verify project control networks and digital workflows.
  • Mentor crew members on geospatial technologies and field practices.
  • Promote safety and continuous improvement in the field.

This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality geospatial data that supports engineering, infrastructure, utility, environmental, and construction projects nationwide.At Verdantas, Survey Crew Chiefs leverage industry-leading technologies including robotic total stations, GNSS, terrestrial laser scanning, UAVs, LiDAR, and digital workflows to capture and deliver accurate, data-rich representations of the built and natural environment. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced technology on complex projects while helping drive innovation across the geospatial industry.What You'll Do:Lead survey field crews in the collection of geospatial and reality capture dataPerform and oversee boundary, topographic, utility, control, construction layout, and as-built surveysOperate surveying equipment including robotic total stations, GNSS receivers, and digital levelsExecute terrestrial laser scanning and UAV collection projects.Establish and verify project control networks to support survey and reality capture workflowsUtilize modern digital field workflows, cloud-based data management systems, and geospatial technologies to improve efficiency and data qualityConduct field quality assurance and quality control reviews to ensure accurate project deliverablesCoordinate field logistics, equipment deployment, project schedules, and crew assignmentsMaintain field documentation, reports, metadata, and project recordsMentor and train crew members on emerging geospatial technologies and field best practicesCollaborate with surveyors, engineers, GIS specialists, BIM professionalsPromote a strong culture of safety, technology innovation, and continuous improvementWhat You Bring:High school diploma or equivalent requiredMinimum 5 years of progressive field surveying experienceExperience leading survey crews and managing field operationsExperience with traditional and reality capture hardwareStrong understanding of survey control, field procedures, and data collection methodologiesAbility to learn and apply emerging technologies and digital workflowsFAA Part 107 Remote Pilot CertificationAbility to walk, climb, bend, and stand for extended periodsAbility to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 poundsAbility to safely work in active construction, utility, industrial, and transportation environmentsPreferred Qualifications:Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Engineering Technology, or related fieldExperience with Leica, Trimble, Faro equipment or similar technologiesSurveyor-in-Training (SIT/LSIT) certificationTravel Requirements:Ability to travel up to 60%, including overnight travel and extended assignments throughout the United States.Physical RequirementsAbility to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions.Salary Range:The compensation range starts at $33.65 and is based on experience and licensure.Benefits:Flexible Work EnvironmentPaid Parental LeaveMedicalDentalVisionLife and AD&D InsuranceShort-Term and Long-Term Disability401(k) with Company MatchPaid Time Off + HolidaysVerdantas strives to develop new ways to increase diversity awareness within our organization.
