Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified full-time Survey Crew Chief to lead a field surveying team. This position will collect data to support design activities, boundary surveying, providing sketches, and layout to support construction activities.

Responsibilities include operating GPS, total stations, scanners, and data collectors; coordinating with office staff; maintaining safety and quality standards; and mentoring junior crew members on project sites.

Qualifications

• Experience in land surveying, including boundary location and ALTA/Topography.
• Ability to lead a survey crew and mentor teammates.
• Strong communication with clients and internal teams.

• Adhere to the company’s Safety, Quality Management and Equipment Maintenance policies.
• Ensures division, regional, and company policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.
• Lead by example – display solid judgment, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise to internal and external clients

• Transfer files between data collectors and internal company project folders

Physical Requirements

• Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
• Ability to carry survey equipment and supplies in remote, rural or urban surroundings
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and walk long distances
• Ability to work in outdoor conditions subject to weather, insects, and changing environments

Required Experience

• Ability to effectively lead a survey crew and train/mentor survey crew members
• Must be able to operate a total station and GPS in both static and RTK modes surveying activities pertaining to control networks, boundaries, ALTA’s, topography, and construction staking.
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle with a valid license and clean driving history
• OSHA 10 and CPR/First Aid or ability and willingness to acquire it
• Must be able perform tasks and solve problems with a high degree of independence
• Basic “office suite” computer skills

Preferred Experience

• An Associate’s Degree in Surveying, Engineering Technology, or related area of study
• Coordinating activities with office personnel, including surveying technicians and engineering staff
• FAA Part 107 UAS License

Salary Description
$28-$38 per hour
