Job summary

Actalent in Bloomfield Hills, MI is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to lead field surveying projects across Southeast Michigan, including transportation, municipal, land development and construction. You will supervise crews, perform construction staking and boundary/topographic surveys, and operate GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, LIDAR, drones and other survey equipment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or similar surveying role.
• Experience with boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
• Proficiency with GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, and field survey equipment.
• Ability to read construction plans and perform field layout independently.
• Strong communication, organization, and crew leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead field surveying projects across Southeast Michigan with focus on transportation, municipal, land development and construction.
• Perform construction staking, boundary and topographic surveys and supervise survey crews.
• Operate GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, LIDAR, drones and other field equipment.
• Handle data collection, cut sheets, legal descriptions, and project documentation.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, utility companies and local agencies.

Job description

Lead field surveying projects throughout Southeast Michigan, including transportation, municipal, land development, and construction projects. Responsible for construction staking, boundary and topographic surveys, supervising survey crews, and operating GNSS/GPS, robotic total stations, LIDAR, drones, and other survey equipment. Work includes both field and office responsibilities such as data collection, cut sheets, legal descriptions, project documentation, and coordination with engineers, contractors, utility companies, and local agencies.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief or similar surveying role.
• Experience with boundary, construction staking, and topographic surveys.
• Proficiency with GPS/GNSS, robotic total stations, and field survey equipment.
• Ability to read construction plans and perform field layout independently.
• Strong communication, organization, and crew leadership skills.

Preferred

• Surveying or Civil Technology education.
• Drone experience.
• Civil 3D or Bentley survey processing experience.
• Interest in pursuing a PS license.

Schedule

40-50 hours/week, Monday-Friday

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
