Job description

Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to join our team in Southlake, Texas. The successful candidate will perform field surveys and create survey maps that meet client requirements and industry standards.

Join our Survey/Geospatial team, which offers a full range of survey and geospatial data and mapping services to enable faster, safer, and more accurate data collection from air, ground, and subsurface sources. Contribute to precise data interpretation and help accelerate your success to become tomorrow's industry leader.

Responsibilities
  • Understand the field-to-finish workflow of the survey team thoroughly.
  • Manipulate and process data for import into AutoCAD database.
  • Follow company CAD and drawing procedures for sheet layout.
  • Assist with property and utility records research as needed.
  • Produce field packages for survey field crews.
  • Perform initial QA/QC tasks to ensure survey quality and completeness.
  • Maintain a prioritized task list based on urgency.
  • Provide daily updates to the manager on tasks completed.
  • Participate in fieldwork part-time as required, with potential reduction as full-time crews are hired.
  • Adapt to more efficient workflows and learn new software/processes.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality of work.
  • Handle more complex assignments as proficiency increases.
Additional Duties
  • Work approximately two days per week in the field as part of a survey crew.
  • Perform office duties including data reduction, calculations, and drafting.
  • Research courthouse records for deeds, titles, and chain of titles.
  • Ensure survey work meets standards and maintains familiarity with current methods.
  • Report efficiency or quality issues to management for resolution.
Qualifications
  • Associates Degree preferred or equivalent technical experience.
  • At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, focusing on survey database manipulation and DTM surface generation.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft Excel and Windows.
  • Technical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience with survey equipment and software is desirable.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety certification required; training provided if needed.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for communication purposes.

Note: A pre-employment drug screen and ongoing participation in drug and alcohol testing are required.
