Job summary

Stearns County is seeking a Community Corrections Specialist to supervise clients on court-ordered supervision, primarily during evenings and weekends. You will perform surveillance checks, victim contacts, employment verifications, and visits to ensure probation compliance.

You will collaborate with agents to uphold public safety, monitor substance abstinence via breath/urinalysis tests, and maintain detailed case records in CSTS while traveling to multiple Stearns County locations.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Two years of post-secondary education in criminal justice or similar field and three years of related surveillance or security OR seven years of related experience.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days.
• Reliable means of transportation to travel to multiple locations around Stearns County.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Assists with supervision of clients by performing surveillance checks, collateral visits, victim contacts, employment verifications, and scheduled/unscheduled visits to ensure compliance with probation terms.
• Collaborates with supervising agents to enhance public safety by enforcing law-abiding behavior and compliance with court rules.
• Monitors abstinence of illegal substances and alcohol use via approved testing (breath and urinalysis).
• Maintains timely records of contacts with clients in CSTS.
• Attends work on a regular and timely basis and completes required safety training and uses safety equipment as needed.

This position is responsible for the verification and monitoring of sobriety, victim contact, employment, residence, associations, and other issues significant to law-abiding behavior.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThese examples do not include all possible responsibilities in this position and do not limit the assignment of related duties to this classification.1. Assists with supervision of clients by performing surveillance checks, collateral visits, victim contacts, employment verifications, and scheduled/unscheduled visits to ensure compliance with probation terms.2. Collaborates with supervising agents to enhance public safety by enforcing law-abiding behavior and compliance with rules established by the court.3. Monitors abstinence of illegal substance and alcohol use through approved testing such as preliminary breath and urinalysis tests.4. Maintains timely records of contacts with clients by completing chronological entries in CSTS.5. Participates in team process of assigned program.6. Documents case activities to facilitate case planning and provide courts and releasing authorities with information required to make informed decisions.7. Follows safety protocols and carries issued safety equipment (Taser, Radio, OC spray, hand cuffs) at all times to assure safety of self and others.8. Maintains safety equipment at all times and regularly completes required training in use of equipment.9. Attends work in a regular and timely manner.10. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.Minimum QualificationsIn order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess the following:High School graduate or equivalentTwo years of post-secondary formal education in criminal justice or similar field and three years of progressively related experience in surveillance or security OR seven years of progressively related experience in surveillance or securityValid Minnesota driver's license or the ability to obtain within 30 daysReliable means of transportation to travel to multiple locations around Stearns County, some of which may not be accessible by public transportationExperience using Microsoft Office SuiteDesirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities1.
