Job summary

Surmasis is seeking an experienced operator to set up and run complex machinery in its manufacturing department. You will lead the team by example, ensure quality and compliance, and work with mixing, coating and converting equipment in a fast-paced environment.

You will monitor materials, perform setup per drawings, troubleshoot issues, and complete paperwork accurately. Strong English communication and safety focus are required for this role.

Qualifications

• Experience with materials such as adhesive products, solvents and chemicals.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to attend to a machine for extended periods.
• Ability to read and understand assembly drawings and build product accordingly.
• Able to use rulers, calipers and gauges to collect and record data.

Responsibilities

• Set up, run, clean and perform general maintenance of mixing, coating, and/or converting equipment.
• Operate faustel coater, UV Cure line, Delta Modtech Converter/Packager, and mixing equipment as needed.
• Maintain 100% GMP and FDA compliance during operations.
• Work safely with chemicals according to SDSs.
• Verify labeling and condition of materials; ensure non-expired materials are used.
• Confirm job processes, setups and drawings before production.
• Set up complex machines according to drawings within defined setup times.
• Inspect quality of materials and in-process products against batch records and specs.
• Troubleshoot basic machine-related issues during operation.
• Process and file required paperwork accurately.
• Complete work timely according to department schedules.
• Operate multiple machines with minimal supervision.
• Complete online training to stay compliant and fully trained.
• Follow SOPs; perform detailed cleaning as written.
• Enforce positive team dynamics in manufacturing.
• Coordinate with other departments as required.
• Maintain and improve 5S within the work area.
• Regular attendance is essential; punctuality is crucial for operations.

SUMMARY

This employee is responsible to set up and operate complex machinery in the Manufacturing Department with minimal supervision according to applicable drawings; must inspect the quality of the materials and work in process as well as accurately complete associated paperwork; must lead the employees of the manufacturing area by example in the areas of attitude, work quality, work ethic, communication, dependability, and company loyalty. This employee will operate in areas of Surmasis manufacturing including Mixing, Coating, and Converting.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Primarily responsible for set-up, run, cleaning and general maintenance of mixing, coating, and/or converting equipment for Surmasis manufacturing activities.
2. Operator will operate faustel coater, UV Cure line, Delta Modtech Converter/Packager, and Mixing equipment as assigned by management based on team needs and employee skills.
3. Maintains 100% GMP and Compliance to FDA guidelines during operations and tasks.
4. Works with a variety of chemicals safely and according to their SDSs.
5. Verifies all chemicals, mixes, raw/IP/FG materials are properly labeled and are in good condition containers. Ensures material is not expired before material is used.
6. Verifies that job processes, setups, and drawings are correct before production runs.
7. Sets up complex machines according to applicable drawings within the defined setup times.
8. Inspects the quality of the materials and work in process, specifically focusing on quality standard set by manufacturing batch records and specifications.
9. Troubleshoots and resolves basic machine-related issues which occur during normal operation.
10. Accurately processes and handles associated paperwork as required for the work being completed.
11. Completes work in a timely manner according to departmental schedules.
12. Operates multiple machines fluently with a minimal amount of supervision.
13. Ability to perform online training independently to stay compliant and fully trained.
14. Follows and enforces standard operating procedures.
15. Performs detailed and effective cleaning according to written procedures.
16. Enforces positive team dynamic in the manufacturing area by exceling in the areas of attitude, work quality, communication, work ethic, dependability, and company loyalty.
17. Communicates and works together with other departments as required.
18. Maintains and improves 5S within the work area.
19. Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job. Punctuality and regular attendance are crucial for efficient plant operations, safety, and morale.

Experience and Skills:

4. Experience using measuring devices including rulers, comparators, calipers, and gauges to collect and record data.

15. Must be able to pass the Operator Assessment test, FORM 2660.
16. If working nights or shifts with minimal supervision, must pass a criminal background check.
