Maine Veterinary Medical Center in Scarborough, ME is seeking a compassionate Veterinary Surgical Technician to join our surgery team. You’ll assist veterinarians in advanced orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency procedures, prep patients, and monitor anesthesia to ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience in veterinary or animal handling role.
• Credentialed candidates (LVT, CVT, or RVT) strongly desired.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Demonstrates teamwork and a positive attitude.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in advanced surgical procedures including orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries.
• Prepare patients for surgery, including anesthesia induction, catheter placement, and pre-operative assessments.
• Monitor anesthesia throughout procedures, ensuring patient safety and appropriate pain management.
• Maintain sterile technique and support surgical suite preparation and turnover.
• Operate and maintain surgical and monitoring equipment.
• Perform post-operative care, including recovery monitoring and patient support.
• Accurately document anesthetic events, treatments, and surgical records.
• Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient surgical flow and exceptional patient care.
