Job summary

Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, MA, is hiring a full-time Veterinary Technician, Surgery to join our specialty team. You will monitor anesthesia and assist with soft tissue, orthopedic, and minimally invasive procedures alongside a board-certified surgeon.

The role requires 3+ years of vet tech experience with anesthesia, strong recordkeeping, and a collaborative mindset. Three 12-hour shifts, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 6a–6p; no weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technician program or equivalent hands‑on experience.
• 3+ years veterinary technician experience.
• Minimum 2 years of anesthesia experience in a veterinary setting.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, RVT) strongly preferred.
• Fluent English speaking and reading skills required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, including induction, intubation, extubation, and recovery.
• Calculate and administer anesthetic agents, CRIs, and fluid therapy.
• Troubleshoot anesthesia and monitoring equipment as needed.
• Prepare and collect blood samples for diagnostics.
• Obtain and process pre-operative and post-operative radiographs.
• Scrub in and assist during surgery.
• Assist with procedures including abdominal exploratory surgery, cruciate repair, fracture repair, thoracotomy, laparoscopy, arthroscopy.
• Monitor and assess patient vitals for awake, sedated, and anesthetized patients.
• Maintain accurate medical records and surgical documentation.
• Provide exceptional patient care throughout the surgical process.
