Midwest Veterinary Specialists is a state‑of‑the‑art veterinary surgery, sports medicine, and rehabilitation brick‑and‑mortar hospital in Greenfield, Wisconsin. With a tight‑knit team, our stunning facilities, and comprehensive therapeutic modalities, we provide exceptional surgical and non‑surgical care for working/sporting and companion dogs from consultation to diagnostic work‑up, and surgical & non‑surgical therapeutic programs, to achieve optimal outcomes and help dogs and cats to live their best lives. Meeting the needs of our clients and patients, while supporting our staff, are top priorities.

We are looking for full‑ and part‑time veterinary assistants to join our team of board‑certified specialists. Team members should have a positive, enthusiastic attitude, a profound attention to detail, work well within a team environment, and have strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated, conscientious, and able to multi‑task. Previous experience in veterinary surgery is desired, but not required.

Team members will be welcomed to a state‑of‑the‑art 9,000 sq ft surgical and rehab hospital that shares the building with an adjacent brand‑new 6,000 sq ft veterinary urgent care center. It is complete with all the toys and amenities you want to ease workflow and maximize efficiency: state‑of‑the‑art operating suites, digital high‑definition radiography (with standing radiograph capability), GE VCT Lightspeed 64 CT scanner, GE LOGIQ S8 ultrasound, IDEXX in‑house labs, multiple large ORs, a full complement of surgical instrumentation, large treatment area and workstations, breakroom, large windows for easy line‑of‑sight, plenty of kennel and run space for patients, and plans for a future gait analysis system and MRI trailer. The large rehabilitation gym will include Aquapaws SS underwater treadmills, a Swimex jetted therapy pool, an Airpaws 200 land treadmill, a ceiling lift and track system for patient mobility assistance, plenty of room for land‑based therapies, and generous dedicated rehab kennel and run space. Large expansive windows throughout the hospital create a cheerful environment!

The hospital is equipped with cloud‑based software programs such as EzyVet, VetRadar, & Cubex to increase workflow efficiency with critical tools like electronic treatment records, whiteboards, anesthesia monitoring, billing, and communications with clients and RDVMs.

We value your experience and will allow you to utilize all of your skillset! Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with patient evaluations & therapies (obtaining patient history & assessment, obtaining vitals, medication dispensing and administration, epidural injections, PRP preparations, etc.)
  • Anesthesia (drug calculations, IV catheter placement, induction, fluid administration, monitoring sedated patients)
  • Assisting the surgeons in surgery
  • Performing diagnostics (x‑ray, laboratory diagnostics, CT, urinalysis, cytology, etc.)
  • Restraining animals for examination and diagnostics
  • Surgical instrument care (cleaning, packing, sterilization, general maintenance)
  • Performing physical therapy exercises and modalities under DVM supervision
  • Nursing care and TLC for our patients
  • Maintaining medical records
  • Client education & communication
  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work environment

We practice rigorous cleaning protocols for all areas of our hospital. We have state‑of‑the‑art HVAC system that utilizes NeedlePoint Bipolar Ionization to remove bacteria, viruses, and mold permanently from circulation. Masks are welcomed as desired.
