Job summary

PetVet Care Centers' Olympia Pet Emergency in Olympia, WA is seeking a Surgical Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, patient handling, anesthesia support, and clerical duties.

The role requires 18+ years, 1+ year surgical experience, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced emergency setting. Full-time shifts and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a surgical department and/or experience with high-risk anesthesia cases.
• Alternative: enrolled in an accredited licensure program with two completed semesters.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to all patients.
• Greet patients and owners, weigh and take vital signs on arrival.
• Triage, perform physical exams, treatments, and administer meds as directed by LVTs.
• Assist doctors and technicians with medication administration or patient restraint.
• Maintain and operate hospital equipment and document medications and controlled substances.
• Maintain medical records and ensure patient safety and cleanliness.
