Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital (NIVES) in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking a Veterinary Technician, Surgery to support surgical patients and work closely with board-certified surgeons. This role includes nursing care before, during, and after procedures, imaging, and client communication.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting surgical procedures and nursing care throughout surgery.
• Ability to perform restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, and medication administration.
• Comfort with diagnostic imaging and anesthesia monitoring in a surgical setting.
• Strong client communication and teamwork within a hospital team.

Responsibilities

• Support the health and well-being of pets by performing patient assessments, diagnostics, stabilization, and comprehensive nursing care throughout the surgical process.
• Partner closely with board-certified surgeons to prepare for and assist with advanced soft tissue and orthopedic procedures.
• Utilize your technical skills by performing patient restraint, phlebotomy, catheter placement, medication administration, drug calculations, diagnostic imaging, CT studies, and anesthesia monitoring.
• Prepare patients, surgical suites, and equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care.
• Communicate with clients by providing updates, reviewing discharge instructions, and supporting a positive client experience.
• Work collaboratively with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support teams to deliver exceptional patient care and foster a positive, team-focused hospital culture.
• Continue developing your technical expertise while supporting additional surgical and hospital responsibilities as needed.
