Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Surgical Technologist (Rotating) to support operating room teams across specialty areas.

The role requires completing a Surgical Technologist program and high school education, with preference for CST certification and prior OR experience. The position includes on-call rotation, opportunity to contribute to patient care excellence, and participation in OR staff development and committees.

Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent and completion of a Surgical Technologist Program required.
  • Three years of experience as an operating room technician desirable.
  • Certification as surgical technologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform technical duties in all operating room specialty service areas following standards.
  • Maintain, assemble, handle and sterilize specialty instrumentation.
  • Assist RPNs in intra-operative nursing practice implementation.
  • Serve as scrub or circulating person per department policy.
  • Document surgical cases accurately on the operating room record.
  • Participate in orientation of new OR personnel and staff development.
  • Join hospital committees as requested and participate in on-call rotation.
  • Adhere to protocols for chemical and high-level disinfection and sterilization.

Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago**Job Description*** Performs technical skill duties in all operating room specialty service areas, ensuring that proper technical practices are employed according to accepted standards of process.* Provides proper maintenance, assembly, handling and sterilization techniques of specialty instrumentation.* Provides assistance to Registered Professional Nurses in the implementing of the intra-operative phase of the nursing practice.* Performs the duties of a scrub or circulating person, following departmental policies and procedures for these respective duties.* Compiles accurate and complete documentation of surgical cases on operating room record when performing duties of the circulating person.* Participates in the orientation of all new operating room personnel as assigned. Participates in operating room staff development through in-service education programs, conference and research projects.* Participates in nursing/hospital committees as requested.
