Qualifications

• Eligibility to work for any employer in the U.S.
• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
• Associate’s Degree strongly preferred or 2 years experience
• Surgical Technologist certification strongly preferred
• Orthopedic and spine surgeries specialization a plus
• CPR certification within 60 days of employment
• Excellent English communications skills for safe patient care
• Experience preferred; willing to engage in professional development
• Ability to coordinate with hospital staff and work in a team
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Detail-oriented, precise, and respectful in the workplace

Responsibilities

• Performs scrubbing and assisting duties within the sterile field during operative procedures
• Anticipates surgeon and staff needs by passing instruments and supplies
• Maintains proper care and maintenance of surgical instrumentation and equipment
• Learning quickly and maintaining a positive outlook
• Demonstrates knowledge of aseptic technique principles
• Familiar with OR equipment, instruments, procedures, implants and supplies
• Ask vital questions, recognize breaks in aseptic technique, and speak up when concerned
• Assist with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field
• Review counts with circulating nurses for instruments, sharps and sponges
• Participate in OR turnover and room preparation for next case
• Work under pressure with patience, tact, stamina and endurance to deliver high patient care
