Summary:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Position Responsibilities:
* Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.
* Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
* Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.
Position Qualifications Required / Experience Required:
One year OR Training or Experience.
Required Education:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program.
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
BLS.
Surgical Technologist Certification required for external hires per NJ State Law.
Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year.
