GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team members, responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during general to moderately complex surgical procedures. Ensures understanding of the assigned procedures and anticipates the needs of the surgeon and team. Provides support related to patient preparation, transport, and assisting with patient care duties to ensure safety and comfort. Responds to emergent situations according to established procedures.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or six (6) months of specialized patient care training in the armed forces.
• Knowledge of surgical procedures within the operating room, including practices and techniques for patient care and assisting surgeons.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

• Current BLS certification or must obtain BLS certification within one month of start date.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred but not mandatory.
