The Surgical Technologist (ST) is an integral member of the care team in the Operating Rooms of the Ohio State University Surgery Center. The team promotes patient care, customer service, reduces hospitalization length, and decreases costs, ensuring patient-focused care through collaborative skills.
The ST performs intra-operative patient care, typically serving as the scrub role in various surgeries, and performs routine tasks. They provide emergency care, assist with emotional needs, follow infection control standards, ensure safety, and maintain a clean perioperative environment. The ST promotes positive interactions with staff, families, and patients, maintains confidentiality, and works under supervision of PCC-RN and Nurse Manager. They perform tasks cost-effectively, meet continuing education and certification requirements, and contribute to organizational goals and career development.
HS Graduate or Equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED, and completion of formal Surgical Technology Training or equivalent. Prior OR experience as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.
Final candidates are subject to a background check; a drug screen or physical may be required post-offer.
