Job summary

Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Festus, MO is seeking a Surgical Technologist (PRN) to support the perioperative team in a high-acuity operating room. You will prepare the OR, maintain sterile technique, and assist with instruments and room turnover.

You will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and nurses to ensure safe patient care, proper positioning, and efficient procedures. Minimum high school diploma; BLS required; postsecondary certificate or degree preferred; non-licensed

Qualifications

• High-School Diploma or GED required.
• Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered.
• 24-Hour-Opportunity locations may consider non-experienced perioperative candidates.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Must understand English both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Surgical Technologists are responsible for preparing the operating room for procedures, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are sterile, functional, and available.
• They maintain strict adherence to sterile technique, anticipate the needs of the surgical team, and provide support throughout the procedure.
• Responsibilities also include assembling and organizing sterile fields, handling instruments and specimens, assisting with room turnover, and contributing to safe patient positioning and care throughout the operative process.
• The OR environment requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and the ability to remain focused under pressure while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
