Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a Surgical Technologist Program.
• Current CST certification or obtain within 6 months of employment.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience to practice in a healthcare facility before September 1, 2009.

Responsibilities

• Check supplies and equipment for the surgical procedure.
• Scrub and gown/don sterile attire.
• Gown and glove the surgeon and assistants.
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts; assist in positioning and draping.
• Pass instruments to the surgeon and maintain sterile technique.
• Assist with postoperative dressings and instrument sterilization.
