Job summary

The position requires completion of an accredited surgical technologist program (CAAHEP) or equivalent experience, BLS, and strong critical thinking. Day shift, 40 hours per week, Surgery Main.

Qualifications

• Completion of OhioHealth OR ST Fellowship or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist school or 10+ years’ experience as Surgery Technician.
• High school diploma or GED, BLS, ST certification preferred.
• Must demonstrate basic critical thinking and ability to work independently.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and communicate with staff; ensure proper aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the room and gathers supplies for surgical procedures; delivers instruments to surgeon intra operatively.
• Acts as second assistant to the surgeon; assists in decontamination post operatively.
• Participates in unit operations and maintains annual competencies; supports mentoring of new personnel.

Education

Graduated from an accredited (CAAHEP) surgical technologist program or equivalent military training

High school diploma or GED

BLS (Basic Life Support)

ST certification preferred

Must demonstrate basic critical thinking

Perform primary role independently

Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and communicate with staff

Identify emergency situations and intervene safely

Complete basic skills in 2-3 service lines per Skill Competency Checklist

Independently scrub complex cases in 1-2 service line specialties
