Job summary

Mercy Hospital Southeast in Cape Girardeau, MO, is seeking a Surgical Technologist (CST/ST) to support the Operating Room team. The role provides instruments to the surgical team, coordinates patient care with colleagues, and protects patient rights and confidentiality in alignment with Mercy Service Standards.

Must have HS diploma or GED; postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology preferred. BLS required; certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a surgical technologist/scrub preferred and required for Level II/III.
• High School Diploma or GED required; postsecondary certificate or associate degree in Surgical Technology preferred.
• Surgical Technology Certification preferred. BLS required; non-licensed candidates may be considered with experience.

• Provide surgical instruments to the surgical team.
• Coordinate the care of the surgical patient with other team members.

Surgical Technologist (CST/ST)

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO

Department: Operating Room

Status: Full-Time - 40 hours/week

Shift: 8 Hour Days (Mon-Fri) + Additional Call Hours

• Experience: Surgical technologist/scrub experience preferred for Surgical Technologist roles; and is required to be considered for Level II/III.
• Required Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Successful completion of a postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in Surgical Technology from an accredited surgical technology program preferred.
• Certification/Licensure: Surgical Technology Certification preferred. Non-licensed/certified candidates may be considered with applicable surgical technologist experience. Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
• Other: Must understand English both written and spoken, must be able to safely and successfully perform job-related functions, with or without reasonable accommodation required by federal, state, or local law. Physical requirements/demands:
  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
