Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ, seeks a full-time Surgical Technologist (Surgical Tech) for the day shift in the OR. The role involves assisting the surgeon in sterile field, scrubbing, and ensuring availability of sterile supplies under RN supervision.

The ideal candidate holds CST or NCCT certification, with BLS, and completes annual CE credits. Preferred candidates have at least 1 year as CST and a Surgical Technologist program diploma.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT certification required.
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to direct patient care.
• Preferred: High School or GED; Graduate of Surgical Technologist Program; minimum of 1 year as CST.

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.
• Assists with circulating duties under the direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
• Ensures adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.
