Qualifications

The Main Operating Room Surgical Technologist performs “scrub” technologist duties for scheduled surgeries in the Main Operating Room, and assists with the draping and utilization of instruments for a particular surgery and age of the patient serviced. Demonstrates knowledge in the basic principles of sterile technique and sterilization procedures. Clinical ladder advancement opportunities available.

Qualifications

Education:

• Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program and/or have previous Surgical Technologist experience REQUIRED.
• Completion of Anatomy and Physiology classes preferred.
• High School graduate or equivalent required.
• Attends JCAHO, OSHA, and hospital/nurse manager-specified mandatory in-services.
• Obtains four contact hours in area of interest.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

• Maintains current CPR certification.
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.

Experience:

• Previous experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties in a capacity of “surgical” technician as prescribed by hospital policies and procedures.
• Assists in the orderly functioning of the Surgery Department.
• Performs appropriate intra-operative techniques to assist physician.
• Pursues educational opportunities to maintain and expand personal and professional goals.
• Actively participates in competency assessment process.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
