Job description

Shift: PRN status with a minimum of 36 hours in six weeks, including one weekend shift. One summer and one winter holiday required.

• Base Pay Range: PRN $26.42 per hour

Detailed Job Description

1. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
2. Assist in teaching newly hired and student technologists.
3. Serve as a role model to new employees and staff.
4. Communicate effectively with patients, staff, and physicians.
5. Adhere to standards including policies, procedures, and safety goals.
6. Prepare cases appropriately.
7. Maintain a sterile environment independently.
8. Apply knowledge of instrumentation across multiple surgical cases and correct deficiencies.
9. Care for, prepare, and maintain supplies and equipment in the OR.
10. Complete department-specific duties as outlined.

Required Qualifications

• One year of experience as a surgical technologist or completion of an accredited program, MU Health Care Surgical Tech program, or military training.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or equivalent certification.
• Additional licenses or certifications as required by the department.

Physical Demands

This active position requires ambulating, reaching, and handling objects over 20 lbs, with or without accommodations. The physical demands are essential to the role.
