Employment Type: Part-time

Shift: Rotating Shift

Position Title: Surgical Technologist, Obstetrical

Provides assistance to surgeons and residents by selecting, organizing, anticipating, and passing surgical instruments, medical supplies, and equipment; maintaining aseptic fields and technique; and providing retraction under the surgeon's direction.

Responsibilities include:

  • Applying knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques.
  • Applying principles of asepsis and infection prevention.
  • Identifying breaches in aseptic technique and resolving them.
  • Assisting with patient positioning, prepping, and draping.
  • Assisting with exposure using appropriate instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Surgical Technologist program or six years of surgical tech experience.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
  • Familiarity with standard desktop and Windows-based computer systems, including email, e-learning, intranet, and navigation.
  • Ability to use other software required for essential functions.
