Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Surgical Technologist handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during complex surgical procedures in the following specialties: Cardiac, Neurosurgical, Neuro-interventional, and Transplant. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.
Position Responsibilities
Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure and provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary.
Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures.
Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience: 1 year OR Training
Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program
Training / Certification / Licensure: BLS, Surgical Technologist Certification preferred.
Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year.
