Overview

Legacy Meridian Park Medical Center is the South metro area’s full-service medical center, offering the friendly feel of a community hospital combined with the skills and services of a larger medical center. Our specialties include stroke, chest pain, minimally invasive and robotic surgery, cancer care, orthopedic and total joint surgery, as well as a birth center and breast health center. The facility features 10 operating rooms, including four minimally invasive suites, one DaVinci robot, and one Stryker Mako robot.

Responsibilities

The Surgical Technologist participates as part of the surgical team, assisting nursing staff in providing safe and efficient care for patients across various surgical services. This role involves passing instruments and supplies to team members, preparing and equipping surgical suites, assisting in non-surgical patient interventions under direct supervision of a physician or RN, and serving as a Core Technician responsible for maintaining sterile technique and providing supplies and instruments as needed.

Qualifications

Experience:

One year of experience as a surgical technologist preferred.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) is required.
  • Education requirements are waived for candidates who have completed appropriate training in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces or the Commissioned Corps of the U.S. Public Health Service.
  • Education requirements are also waived for candidates who have worked as a surgical technologist in an ambulatory surgery center, hospital, or federal government agency between January 1, 2014, and January 1, 2017, provided they have worked 2 out of the last 3 years as a surgical technologist.

Skills:

  • Basic patient care skills as per position requirements.
  • Basic medical terminology knowledge.
  • Proficiency in keyboard use and navigating electronic systems relevant to the role.
  • Understanding and applying principles of sterile technique and surgical procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.

Licensure

All employees:

  • American Heart Association-approved BLS certification required at hire.

Oregon Employees:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification with the State of Oregon required at hire or within 12 months of graduation from an accredited program.
  • Waived for candidates with appropriate military or U.S. Public Health Service training or experience working as a surgical technologist in specific settings between January 1, 2014, and January 1, 2017, with at least 2 years of recent experience.

Washington Employees:

  • Registration as a Registered Surgical Technologist (RST) required at hire.
Pay Range

USD $33.92 - USD $48.51 per hour.
