Job summary

Springfield Memorial Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technologist for the Main Operating Room on the Full-Time Evening Shift (3:45pm–11:15pm) with on-call duties. Completion of a 2-year accredited Surgical Technologist program, or equivalent surgical technologist experience, is REQUIRED.

New Graduate Surg Tech students, and students enrolled in the second year of an accredited program, are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Completion of a 2-year accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent experience is required.
• New graduates encouraged to apply.
• CPR certification required within 6 months of graduation or start date.

Responsibilities

• Scrub technologist duties for scheduled surgeries in the Main Operating Room.
• Assist with draping and utilization of instruments; maintain sterile technique.
• Clinical ladder advancement opportunities available.

The Main Operating Room Surgical Technologist performs "scrub" technologist duties for scheduled surgeries in the Main Operating Room. Assists with the draping and utilization of instruments for a particular surgery and age of the patient serviced. Demonstrates knowledge in the basic principles of sterile technique and sterilization procedures. Clinical ladder advancement opportunities available.

Education

• Graduate of a recognized Surgical Technologist program, or in the last semester of an approved program is required.
• National certification and CPR certification are required within 6 months of graduation from recognized program, or within 6 months start date of employment.

Licensure/Certification/Registry

• Maintains current CPR certification
• Surgical Technologist Certification preferred at all Memorial locations, but is required at Decatur Memorial.

Experience

• Previous experience in multiple surgical specialties is preferred.
