Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to prepare the operating room and assist the surgical team across a variety of procedures. You will set up sterile equipment, assist with patient positioning, and help ensure a safe, clean environment in the OR.

A sign-on bonus is available and collaboration within the OR team is essential. Required qualifications include WA ARC-ST accreditation or equivalent, WA Surgical Technologist Registration or RN WA license substitution, and CPR

Qualifications

• Graduation from a surgical technology program ARC-ST accreditation or equivalent
• Surgical Technologist Registration WA
• Registered Nurse WA license (if substituting for surgical tech)
• Basic Life Support – CPR

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room and patient for the surgical procedure, maintains asepsis, and assists with gowning/gloving and draping.
• Transfers and positions the patient on the table, assists anesthesia personnel as needed, and uses sterile technique for instruments and specimens.
• Participates in the Surgical Safety Checklist and Time Out, ensuring safety and proper handling throughout procedures.

As our Surgical Tech, you will help prepare the operating room and surgical team so they can successfully perform a variety of surgical procedures for patients.

Every day you will set up surgical equipment and instruments, assist the surgical team, and ensure a sterile environment. You will be expected to adapt quickly, collaborate effectively within the OR team, and contribute directly to the patient’s healing process.

To be successful in this role, you must possess adaptability, a strong team-player mindset, and enthusiasm for supporting complex surgical procedures.

• Prepares the operating room and patient for the surgical procedure by applying principles and techniques of asepsis to work assignments; sets up sterile equipment, instruments, drapes and solutions; assists with scrubbing, preparation of sterile field, gowning/gloving members of the surgical team. Helps the surgeon and any assistants put on their surgical gowns and gloves. Assists with positioning and draping of patient under direction of qualified practitioner. Assists with comfort and safety measures under direction of qualified practitioner.

• Transfers and positions patient to operating room table and covers them with sterile surgical drapes. Assists anesthesia personnel as needed under the direction of qualified practitioner. Actively participates in the Surgical Safety Checklist and Time Out on every patient. Provides safe handling and care for instruments and specimens in accordance with internal procedures.

Job Requirements

Required

• Graduation from surgical technology program accredited through Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology ARC-ST., upon hire or

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing may be substituted for graduation from an accredited surgical technician program., upon hire and

• Surgical Technologist Registration: WA, upon hire or

• Registered Nurse: WA, upon hire and

• Basic Life Support – CPR, upon hire

Preferred

• six months operating room work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities

Pay Range

$30.72 - $51.20 /hour
