Job Summary and Qualifications
- Position Summary: The Surgical Technician III will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to assist during surgical procedures performed in the department. The position requires proficiency in aseptic technique, setting up equipment and sterile supplies for assigned cases, pulling cases as needed, and breaking down cases at the end of the procedure. The role includes knowledge of instrumentation, equipment, and supply needs for all types of surgical procedures. The Technician performs delegated duties consistent with scope of practice and functions within the overall plan of care delivery. Supervision may require assisting with orienting new employees and being available for scheduled calls. The Technician will perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor when needed.
Position Requirements
- Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current BLS Certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, Registration as a Surgical Tech by the Colorado Division of Registration (DORA), Current CST Certification from NBSTSA preferred.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Operating Room Technician program.
- Experience: One year as a Surgery Technician.
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Advanced knowledge of the scrub role and multiple surgical procedures. Demonstrates good organizational skills and positive professional communication with internal and external customers. Authorized to handle medications, syringes, needles, etc., and accountable to the registered nurse for oversight of this practice.
