Memorial Hospital West is seeking a skilled Surgical Technologist to support safe, efficient operating room procedures. You will precept staff, prepare sterile fields, and assist the surgical team throughout cases.

The role requires one year of experience, accreditation in Surgical Technology, and BLS certification; CST or TS-C cert preferred. Evening shifts.

Qualificações

• Accredited program: Surgical Technologist (Required).
• Basic life support (BLS) certification required/preferred as stated.
• CT.certifications CST/TS-C preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Precept and mentor new staff members during orientation and onboarding.
• Handle, label, and process surgical specimens for laboratory delivery.
• Prepare operating room by setting up sterile fields, drapes, instruments, and supplies.
• Anticipate needs of the surgical team by passing instruments and maintaining sterile technique.
• Collaborate with sterile processing to decontaminate and sterilize tools.
• Support infection prevention and patient safety standards.
• Verify instruments/equipment function and report issues promptly.
• Monitor and account for instruments, sponges, and supplies during procedures.
• Assist nursing staff with patient preparation, transport, positioning, and draping.

Summary

Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Precept and mentor new staff members, fostering skill development and support orientation and onboarding.
• Handles, labels, and processes surgical specimens according to established protocols for safe and accurate delivery to the laboratory.
• Prepares the operating room by setting up sterile fields with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment, and supplies tailored to each case.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team by passing instruments, supplies, and equipment efficiently during procedures while maintaining strict sterile technique.
• Collaborates with the sterile processing team to decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies.
• Contributes to a safe and supportive environment by adhering to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality standards.
• Verifies that surgical instruments and equipment are functioning properly and promptly reports or addresses any issues.
• Monitors and accounts for instruments, sponges, and supplies throughout each procedure to ensure patient safety.
• Assists nursing staff in direct patient care, including preparation, transport, positioning, and draping of patients for surgery.
