Job summary

Woodhull Medical and Mental Health Center, part of NYC Health + Hospitals, seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team. Under supervision, you will prepare the sterile field, assist surgical staff, and ensure aseptic technique throughout procedures.

Expected to verify patient identity and procedure, maintain instrument counts, and support patient care before and after surgery. Requires CST credential or equivalent credentialing.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
• Completion of a nationally accredited surgical technology program or equivalent training.
• Holds and maintains NBSTSA credential or other approved credentialing organization.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room and sterile field for procedures using sterile technique.
• Assists in receiving, labeling and verifying sterile solutions and medications during surgery.
• Verifies patient identity, surgical site, and procedure; assists in positioning and gowning/gloving.
• Maintains asepsis during all procedures and handles specimens for lab analysis.
• Operates or assists with sterilizers, lights, suction and electrosurgical units as directed.
• Performs duties as assigned by surgeon or appropriate personnel.
