Qualifications

• Holds CST credential NBSTSA or equivalent.

• Annual continuing education is required to remain qualified.

Responsibilities

• Prepares operating room and sterile field using sterile technique.
• Assists in receiving, labeling and verifying sterile solutions and medications during surgery.
• Verifies patient identity, correct surgical site, and procedure.
• Assists in moving and positioning patient for surgery and adheres to safety guidelines.
• Performs gowning and gloving procedures in perioperative setting.
• Assists with draping and skin prep for procedures.
• Assists surgeon and maintains instrument/counts throughout procedure.
• Participates in staff development activities and other duties as assigned.
