Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in Downey, CA is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to assist during surgical procedures under RN or physician supervision. You will perform scrub duties, set up the OR, pass instruments, maintain sterile technique, and support ongoing department improvement.

You must have OR scrub experience, graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program, and BLS certification. This is an on-site, on-call role at Downey Medical Center.

Qualifications

• Two years within the last three years operating room scrubbing experience or equivalent military experience.
• Graduate of approved surgical technologist program or military equivalent.
• National Center for Competency Testing Certificate - Technologist in Surgery OR Surgical Technologist Certificate.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Scrub role: anticipate surgeons' needs, pass instruments, cut sutures, hold retractors, obtain/process tissue samples.
• Set up and organize room, assemble instruments, ensure sterilization and proper prep for upcoming procedures.
• Assist physician within scope of competency and transfer, transport, and stabilize patient as directed.
• Operate sterilization equipment and maintain equipment in proper working order.
