Job summary

WakeMed is seeking a Surgical Technologist II for Labor and Delivery. The role supports surgeons and RNs to maintain a safe operating room, prepares equipment, and assists with patient triage and instrument care on the Labor and Delivery deck.

The position requires CST or TSI credentials and completed surgical technology education (Graduate Surgical Technology or Associate's Degree, or military training). No prior experience is required.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or In Surgery (TSI) credential required.
• Graduate Surgical Technology degree or higher required.
• Education may be through military training in surgical technology.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintaining sterile environment and instrument counts.
• Support Labor and Delivery procedures under supervision to protect patient safety.
• Assist with triage support and instrument care on Labor and Delivery deck.

The Surgical Technologist II, Labor and Delivery is an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing surgical and patient care. Functions under the supervision of a surgeon or registered nurse to ensure that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Assists with patients in triage. Assists with the breakdown, and instrument care in the Labor and Delivery deck area.
