Surgical Technologist II - Day/Wknd Rotation

Job Type: 36 or 40 hours per week – Hours to be determined closer to the completion of orientation (8, 10, or 12-hour DAY/WKND shifts, starting at 6:30 AM). Includes call duties and 2 holidays per year.

Job Overview

Performs preparatory, scrubbing, and related duties to support patient care in the Operating Room across various specialties. Assists with surgical cases in all specialties.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares the operating room by reviewing case carts and supplying necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Assembles supplies and equipment according to physician and procedure requirements.
  • Inspects equipment for proper working condition.
  • Maintains sterile practices when opening packages and preparing for procedures.
  • Prepares for specialty cases and stays updated on advancements and techniques.
  • Participates in time out/sign out processes.
  • Maintains sterile field during procedures.
  • Follows aseptic principles and AORN guidelines.
  • Assists surgeons by passing instruments and providing sterile items efficiently.
  • Practices sharps safety techniques.
  • Performs counts prior to incision and closure.
  • Prepares and labels fluids and medications on the sterile field.
  • Prepares specimens for analysis.
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments.
  • Assists with environmental cleaning and case turnovers.
  • Ensures availability of instruments and supplies to prevent delays.
  • Stores and stocks supplies as needed.
  • Updates preference cards post-procedure and communicates needs to the service lead.
  • Supports OR patient care processes as directed by nursing and anesthesia teams.
  • Participates in on-call activities.
  • Maintains regular attendance.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or relevant course.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist with competency in at least two surgical specialties, or certification fulfills this requirement.
  • Current and valid BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Surgical Technologist certification preferred.
  • Frequent call-back required.
