Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist II to assist surgical teams, maintain sterile technique, and support perioperative care for diverse patient populations.

The role requires completion of an accredited surgical technologist program with current certification; sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available for eligible new hires.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist.
• Certification in Surgical Technology required.
• LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees.
• Registration with VA Dept of Health Professions.
• Knowledge of instrumentations.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate care.

Responsibilities

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare:

The Certified Surgical Technologist supports perioperative care, maintains sterile technique, assists surgical teams, and ensures quality patient outcomes.

New hire sign on bonus of $20,000, up to $7,000 in relocation assistance is available.

The Certified Surgical Technologist

• Participates in the delivery of individualized peri-operative registered nursing care under the supervision and guidance of a licensed physician or a registered professional nurse. Collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to assure quality patient care.
• Basic knowledge of instrumentations.
• Establish/Maintain sterile field and assure team maintains sterile environment.
• Demonstrates correct and safe instrumentation passing.
• Participants in surgical counts (sponge, needle and instruments), per policy
• Adheres to Policy and Procedures, all regulatory standards and Patient Safety Goals.
• Participates in the nursing process for patients of all ages served.
• Participates in unit educational activities.

What We Require:

Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Successfully completed an accredited surgical technologist training program and holds a current credential as a certified surgical technologist from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting or its successor. Or, has successfully completed a training program for surgical technology during the person’s service as a member of any branch of the armed forces of the United States.

Experience: None

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Certification in Surgical Technology required. LPN licensure required for grandfathered employees. Obtain and/or maintain registration with the VA Dept of Health Professions.

Other Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of instrumentations. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development through the life span, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age and specific needs, and provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.

Compensation Range:

$25.77 - $38.66

Employee pay is based on a variety of factors, including qualifications, credentials, education, and prior work experience. The compensation range does not include benefits or pension plan.
