Job Description Within the organizational structure of the Operating Room, assists in the delivery of direct primary care to the patient experiencing surgical intervention. Primary function is to assist with surgical procedures. Surgical Tech II must successfully complete requirements to be a success coach and orient new employees annually or precept students. Surgical Tech II demonstrates informal leadership by supporting change initiatives and quality improvement in the department. Individualizes and modifies care according to the patient’s needs Collaborates with other healthcare employees to enhance the provision of patient care Assumes a multi-skilled role, performing clinical and surgical functions Ensures appropriate supplies have been obtained for all surgical procedures performed Obtains necessary sterile instrumentation prior to procedures and hands-off contaminated instrumentation to decontamination with appropriate communication following procedures Complete qualifications and education to be a success coach (preceptor) Participates in at least two education or training programs annually e.g., mentoring, teaching peers, department in-service Supports quality and change projects Participates in department level meetings
Job Requirements Applicable Experience: 1 year Basic Life Support - American Heart Association or Red Cross
